For the period 1954-1958 in the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Orenburg Medical Institute there were operated 214 persons for primary ovary tumours. In 12 cases out of this number the operation was performed on children and juveniles. Their age are varied from 8 to 12 years, making 5,6% to the general quantity of the patients operated. Ovary tumours were distributed according to their type: teratoma - 1 case, dermoid - 3, disgerminoma - 2, papillary cystadenoma - 2, serous cystoma - 4. In 8 cases the chief complaint before operation was pain, being connected in 6 cases with tumour pedicle twisting. In 4 cases the patients complained chiefly of an increase of their belly size. Taking into consideration ovary tumours not uncommonly met in children and juveniles, the medical examination of adolescent girls is to be carried out with the help of an obligatory digital rectal examination for timely diagnosing and removing primary ovary tumours.
