Antisera prepared from purified antigens obtained from embryo and adult chicken brain membrane and crystalline lens of the eye show the presence of common antigens in these structures, both in the .beta.-group with anodic mobility and in the anti-FISC fraction. The existence of common antigens in the .alpha.-fraction remains uncertain since a partial identity reaction in the anodic (.alpha.) portion of the immunoelectrophoretogram precipitation was not always present. This study produced positive results using microsomal brain fractions of developing chicks, indicating that common antigenic determinants of the brain and crystalline lens are also present at the level of the ergastoplasm, which is the zone of protein synthesis.
