Evidence is presented that the newly discovered H-2ka mutation occurs in the K region of the H-2 complex of the mouse, and probably in the H-2K locus itself. In addition to affecting antigens involved in skin graft rejection, the mutation affected antigens causing mixed lymphocyte reaction and cell-mediated lymphocytotoxicity (CML). The findings show that I-region differences are not required for the induction of strong CML.
