The specific distribution of splanchnic afferent was determined in cat spinal ganglia. The excitability of splanchnic sensory fibers was tested. Unit activity of the neurons was recorded in the spinal ganglia by extracellular microelectrodes, and electric stimulation was accomplished by classic neurostimulators. Four additional cats were used for histological studies of unilateral ablation of the spinal ganglia, T6 to L1. The distribution of the splanchnic afferents, greater and lesser division, were recorded in unit potentials and global potentials for each ganglion and the percentage distribution for all the ganglia charted. The composition of the splanchnic nerves was studied by measuring the speeds of conduction. The study of the cycle of excitability at unit level established the presence of B fibers in the afferent contingent of the splanchnic nerves.
