Multiplicity and dispersion of the parasympathetic ganglia of the head

In addition to the four parasympathetic ganglia usually described in the head, many other microscopic parasympathetic ganglia have been observed in various regions of the cephalic territory. The cranial parasympathetic system is therefore diffuse as in the case of the sympathetic, although the neurones composing it are morphologically different.
