Chromosome studies of 7 fetuses of mothers who had taken Ovosiston o r Sequence-ovosiston for 4-8 weeks in early pregnancy are reported. Car yotypes were normal (XX in 3 cases, XY in 2 cases) in 5 fetuses. In 2 cases, however, XO/XX caryotypes were observed. Although this group is too small to permit definite conclusions, it emphasizes the need for long-range cytogenetic studies on the effects of oral contraceptives on the zygote, embryo, and post-embryonic development.
