The effects of tricyclic antidepressants are described in 82 tests on experimentally induced automatism in isolated rat right ventricle. The activity order was nortriptyline, amitriptyline, chlorimipramine, desipramine and imipramine. These effects may be related to their membrane stabilizing properties.
