A picture of case of typical syndrome of Ciuffini-Pancoast, caused by an echinococcic cyst localized in correspondence of superior opening of the chest. The operation, followed by an ideal course, brought to the disappearance of all the subjective an objective symptomatology. After giving a picture of the case, the A. vindicates the priority of Ciuffini who described in a thorough way, the syndrome 13 years before Pancoast; he then briefly dwells upon the nature of the diseases causing the appearance of the syndrome, upon their prognosis and upon their treatment.
