Resistant giardiasis secondary to duodenal diverticula. Case report

Repeated courses of quinacrine, metronidazole and, because of possible amoebiasis, Diodoquin failed to cure Giardia lamblia infection in a 42-year-old white male. After surgical removal, 2 duodenal diverticula were shown to contain numerous Giardia at the base. The patient's condition improved after surgery and faeces have remained negative for Giardia.
