Scrub typhus caused by Rickettsia tsutsugamushi is transmitted on Penghu, in the Pescadores Is. in the Formosa Straits (Taiwan) by Leptotrombidium deliense (Walch). The clinical observations reported here included observations of the eschars, which occurred mostly in the axilla, waist, groin, genitals and neck. These lesions were painless and not noticed by the patients.
