In an attempted suicide severe phosphorus poisoning resulted from ingestion of 6 grams of rodent, equivalent to 150 milligrams of yellow phosphorus. Prompt recovery followed institution of cortisone therapy. Fatty infiltration or signs of incipient postnecrotic scarring were notably absent in the liver biopsy taken on the 34th day of intoxication.
