The treatment of Dirofilaria immitis infection in dogs is described. Thiacetarsamide sodium given intravenously at one ml/10 lb body-weight twice daily (early morning and late afternoon) for 2 consecutive days is recommended. Further treatment 6 weeks later with Dispense 20 and Dizan (R) Tablets (dithazanine) (Elanco) may be necessary to reduce the microfilarial count to zero.
