6 multiparous cats were observed during gestation and 14 wk post partum; each cat bore 2-6 kittens. Haemograms are tabulated for 1 and 63 days after conception, the 1st day post partum and on the day of weaning (65 days post partum). Anaemia during late gestation resulted from a steady decrease in erythrocyte counts, haemoglobin levels, and packed cell vol. Recovery of these values to normal levels was evident by 7 days post partum and the reticulosis which developed in response to the anaemia during pregnancy also became reduced after parturition; reticulocyte levels showed further decreases in late lactation.
