Coagulation and anticoagulation systems in trichinelliasis

A decrease of the coagulation time, a high prothrombin index, a tolerance of plasma to heparin and the fibrinolysis of euglobulin occurred during the acute stage of severe or moderately severe trichinelliasis in the 48 patients under observation. This hypercoagulation was one of the causes of the thrombotic complications of this infection. A monitoring of blood coagulation is recommended during the treatment of trichinelliasis.
