Trisomy in a feline fetus

One of 4 foetuses in a pregnant cat was considerably smaller than the 3 normal foetuses, and was macerated. The small foetus had 39 chromosomes (instead of the normal 38), with trisomy of autosome D2. This is the 1st report of an autosomal chromosome aberration in the cat. The Giemsa banding patterns of the chromosomes of the normal and abnormal foetuses are described.
