Eine 43jährige Patientin mit Anämie unklarer Genese (laut internistischem Konsil) wurde über mehrere Wochen regelmäßig mit intravenöser Applikation von Magnesium behandelt. Seitdem sind die Erythrozytenzahl, der Hämoglobingehalt und der Hämatokrit kontinuierlich angestiegen.
