Esthesioneuroblastomas (ENB) also referred to as Olfactory Neuroblastomas are rare neoplasms arising from olfactory neuroepithelium. The estimated incidence of this tumor has been quoted to be 4 cases per 10 million individuals, making the available literature regarding this tumor scarce. It is typically characterized by a pattern of slow growth and local invasion as well as recurrence. Available treatment options include stand-alone surgery versus a combination of surgical and nonsurgical modalities involving radio and chemotherapy. As this tumor has the ability to invade nasal, paranasal, orbital, cervical, and intracranial compartments, a multitude of surgical approaches have been employed to address this pathology. However, a standard treatment for ENB has not yet been agreed upon. In this article, we report the case of a 63 year old male patient with a recurrent ENB with intracranial extension who underwent a combined endoscopic endonasal and transcranial resection of tumor. We reviewed the current literature to evaluate which patients may benefit the most from these combined procedures.
