Faeces from a number of persons living in a grossly insanitary rural area were examined for parasites by wet films. Trichuris was found in approximately 90%, Ascaris especially in children aged 1 to 4 years and hookworm particularly in those over 20 years of age. Follow-up one year after treatment with piperazine, dithiazanine or tetrachloroethylene showed a considerable reduction in hookworm and about 28% reduction for Ascaris but very little for Trichuris.
