From observation of 12 cases of Schistosoma mansoni infection in the acute phase, it was found (i) that a state of hypersensitivity predominates in this phase and (ii) that the duration of the acute phase of the infection seems to depend on the degree of infection and on the general condition and immunological response of the patient.
