The case is reported of a miner with Trichophyton quinckeanum and Candida albicans skin infection. T. quinckeanum and T. mentagrophytes were isolated from soil at a depth of 520 m in the mine, but not C. albicans. Rodents are considered a possible reservoir of dermatophytes in mines.
