The significant correlation between the incidence of intestinal parasitism and bronchial asthma as reported by Tullis [see Hm/A 41, 861] is questioned. 131 patients, mainly Puerto Rican, with an established diagnosis of bronchial asthma were examined for intestinal parasites and the findings compared with those in 73 non-asthmatic patients, who also had no history of any allergic complaints and were of the same age distribution. No evidence was found that the asthmatic group had a higher incidence of parasitism than the control group or that there was any correlation between the 2 conditions.
