The guidelines are now used for all patient seating assessments, providing nurses with a number of options to improve patients' seating without necessarily using a pressure-relieving cushion. There is an increased awareness among nurses in the trust of the dynamics of seating and how small alterations can improve posture, reduce the effects of pressure and increase function. Since the implementation of the guidelines, requests for cushions have become patient-specific and a small increase in funding has been used to buy more cushions. The demand for equipment for high-risk patients proved to be lower than anticipated, so the flow chart has been reviewed and altered to ensure that all available equipment will be used in future
