Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, plasma viscosity and Creactive protein have been increasingly used as inflammatory indicators in assisting disease management. An understanding of the characteristics and limitations of each indicator is important. The use of ESR, PV and CRP is undoubtedly helpful in assisting the management of organic diseases. The clinical benefit relies on the appropriate use of each specific inflammatory indicator. Further studies will explore the clinical relevance and extend the role of each inflammatory indicator in clinical practice.
