Dynamics of distribution of nosocomial infections in Bulgaria during the period 2010-2011

The nosocomial infections are actual problem not only in Bulgaria but all over the world. The correct approach in the organization of prevention and control of this pathology determines the possibility of her limitation in the hospitals. The conducted study indicates that 1.04% during 2010 and 0.94% during 2011 of hospitalized patients developed nosocomial infections. Despite of partial registration, the results showed wide distribution and incomplete etiologic diagnosis (55.54% and 63.72%) of this pathology in Bulgaria for the period 2010-2011. More than 1/3 of the hospitalized patients in the country were treated with antibiotics. The contemporary nosocomial infections are characterized with etiologic and nosological structure, determined by the profile of the hospital ward. The information for the registered nosocomial infections in the different regions of the country outlined the level of organization and the work priorities of the medical staff in this direction.
