Large amounts of vitamin B-12 or dimethylbenzimidazole had no effect in a girl 14 months old with methylmalonic acidaemia. There was a dramatic clinical and chemical response to a diet with isoleucine, threonine, valine and methionine restricted to amounts required for growth. Catch-up body growth was matched by growth in head size and intellectual development.
