Some epidemiological and forensic assessments on cases of domestic violence, recorded in Piatra Neamţ, between 1997-2009

Authors highlighted some aspects regarding domestic violence in an urban community, during 13 years. The study included 31406 individuals from the county, with various aggressions, from which 1433 (53.43%) from Piatra Neamţ Town and 2682 (8.53%) were victims of domestic violence < 20-61 aged. Domestic violence prevalence in Piatra Neamţ Town, comparatively with county, had values of 6.21% in 1997 and 7.10% in 2009. Cumulatively for 13 years, female victims were 1081 (75.43%), comparatively with males 352 (24.56%). A percent of 79.51% of cases interested 21-60 aged active social groups. The gravity of domestic violence lesions were distributed in 4 categories, from 10 to 61 days of hospitalization. Negative social economical involvements of domestic violence for individual, family and community, presented various aspects, some of them difficult to quantify (hospitalisation, absenteeism, temporary work incapacity a.s.o).
