Issues involved in the development and transfer of mechanization technologies to small farms through local manufacturers in developing countries are discussed. It is proposed that technology generation and transfer are highly interdependent activities and that research institutions and manufacturers must therefore cooperate more actively in the development and transfer of mechanization technologies in the developing countries.
