The results of a study on the medusae collected around the Cape Verde islands during the TFMCBM/98 Cape Verde cruise are presented. Individual specimens of four hundred and ninety seven medusae were collected and identified to thirty two species, with three additional sets of specimens that could only be identified to genera and one only to family. Only nine of the species have been recorded from the islands before, bringing the total number of different medusae recorded for the area at the moment to fifty six. Of the species sampled, Clytia malayense cf. and Halocoryne orientalis cf., are new records for the Atlantic Ocean but require confirmation. Notes on some of the species are included.
