Multidisciplinary approach is needed for the effective management of cancer pain. Aim of therapy for cancer pain is - to increase hours of pain free sleep - to relieve pain at rest - to relieve pain during activity. Specific anticancer therapy for relieving pain is radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and surgery. Use of analgesics should be "by the clock" and "by the ladder" indications for neurolytic blocks have decreased with the advent of new neurosurgical ablative procedures and neurostimulation technique.
