The changing importance of various zoonoses in relation to economic development is discussed with emphasis on the role of the veterinarian in controlling these infections. Toxoplasmosis is included among those infections into which further research is needed. Changes in the importance of various zoonoses in relation to economic development are discussed. The role of the veterinarian in food hygiene and the control of trichinelliasis, taeniasis and hydatid are emphasized.
