A high sodium or protein intake aggravates kidney damage. Recent reports showed that obesity, low physical activity, or current smoking raises a risk for chronic kidney disease. Therefore, some lifestyle interventions, such as control of body weight, reduction of salt intake, and cessation of smoking, may prevent or delay the progression of chronic kidney disease.
