The full length sequences of human CK2- alpha and CK2- beta were amplified with RT-PCR using mRNA from cell line SH-SY5Y as template, and the fusion proteins HIS-CK2- alpha and GST-HIS-CK2- beta were expressed in Escherichia coli to determine the molecular interaction between CK2 and PrP. Results revealed that recombinant PrP bound specifically with CK2- alpha , but not with CK2- beta. The native CK2 and PrP in the hamster brains interacted and formed protein complexes.
