Alloplasty of ventral and umbilical hernias with small sizes of hernial hilus

Hernioplasty was fulfilled on 49 patients with ventral hernias with the size of hernial hilus less than 5 cm. The immediate and long-tern results were good. Postoperative complications took place in 2%, no relapses of the disease were found during the follow-up period from 6 months to 4 years. Alloplasty is recommended in treatment of small ventral hernias in patients with high risk of recurrent diseases. The methods facilitating fixation of the prosthesis under aponeurosis with small sizes of hernial hilus are described.
