Racial disparities in health care: quality should mean equality

The United States spends more per capita on health care than many other countries do. Unfortunately, those dollars are not distributed equally throughout the population. Although nonwhites are projected to make up about half of the nation's population shortly, disparities exist in care for minority patients. Hospitals should focus on ways to measure how well they meet the needs of diverse patients and make appropriate adjustments.
