A total of 12 hematological patients (8 cases of hypoplastic anemia, 3 cases of aplastic anemia and 1 of leukosis-reticulosis) were subjected to bone marrow allotransplantation. The number of administered myelokaryocytes varied from 2.97 .times. 109-10.22 .times. 109. When selecting the donor's bone marrow, compatibility with the recipient's erythrocytic, leukocytic and thrombocytic antigens was considered. Rabbit antithymocytic globulin was used as an immunodepressant. Patients with hypoplastic anemia obtained a long-lasting clinical-hematological remission. In addition to its lymphopenic and immunodepressive actions, the antithymocytic globulin stimulated neutropoiesis in the patients with hypoplastic anemia. The same treatment applied to patients with aplastic anemia was ineffective; all patients died.
