Cutaneous nodules of cysticercosis

A case is reported in a 39-year-old man from Burkina Faso, who presented with a six-year history of multiple cutaneous nodules on the limbs and trunk, which were gradually increasing in size. Examination of stools for parasites was negative. A haemogram showed hypereosinophilia. Histology of a nodule showed a cystic formation limited by dense fibrous tissue. Cutaneous cysticercosis was diagnosed, with evidence of cerebral localization. The patient was treated with dexamethasone (20 mg/day for 7 days) then albendazole (800 mg daily for three weeks), with resolution of symptoms.
