A total of 4 cats and 6 dogs with squamous cell carcinoma were treated with bleomycin. Some clinical improvement occurred in 3 cats and 2 dogs. In most instances, the regressions were incomplete and of short duration. The best response to bleomycin therapy occurred in animals having squamous cell carcinoma of dermal origin and of low-grade invasiveness. Toxic manifestations were not observed in any of the treated animals. To evaluate the toxicity of bleomycin for the feline species, 8 normal cats were given bleomycin for 6 weeks, with total dosages of 126 of 45 mg./sq. m. of body surface area (BSA). Signs of toxicosis were not found according to clinical, hematologic, blood chemical, and pathologic criteria.
