Management of diabetic neuropathic foot ulcers is based on certain principles: effective pressure offloading from the wound using specialised shoes, cast braces, or casts; removal of infected or necrotic tissue using surgery or nonsurgical methods, such as topical protease therapy; optimisation of wound healing by interventions such as nutritional support, optimal moisture balance and growth factor therapy.
