The neuropeptide sandostatin influence on the excretory function of the liver, pancreas and stomach was studied in the experiment on mongrel dogs. Its dramatic depression and significant reduction of the intracavitary pressure in the duodenal stump after gastric resection were revealed. Sandostatin was applied successfully in 15 patients in the clinical conditions.
