Comprehensive risk adjustment uncovers discrepancies between patients in New York and Michigan. Michigan angioplasty patients had a significantly higher incidence of kidney problems, diabetes, lung disease, and vascular problems. The majority of physicians surveyed said their patient selection was affected by public reporting.
