The common clinical diagnostic kits for intact PTH assay detected not only PTH (1-84) but also PTH (7-84) fragment. Recently, it is reported that PTH (1-84) fragment is the antagonist to PTH (7-84) biological action. Now, PTH assays of whole PTH for IRMA method and bio-intact PTH for CLIA method respectively, which detect only (1-84) fragment may be useful for more precise measurement of PTH activity in diagnosis of bone metabolic disease and uremic patient.
