Several issues will challenge healthcare organizations in 2004. Increasing costs, a labor short-age, demanding consumers, eroding profits, and limited access to capital will create financial pressures. How healthcare organizations respond will determine how they weather the challenges. The most successful organizations will focus on financial management strategies and will seize the opportunity to transform themselves. Technology will play a major role in the strategies.
