Multiple actinomycosis brain abscesses

A 56-year-old immunocompetent woman was admitted to a hospital in France with unexplained fever, inappropriate behaviour, and spatial and temporal disorientation. The progressive worsening of the neurological signs led to coma, and mechanical ventilation was required. Brain imaging showed multilocation cerebral abscesses. Stereotaxial biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of actinomycosis. The patient's clinical outcome was favourable following treatment with amoxicillin and chloramphenicol.
