The influence of socioeconomic factors on health status and causes of mortality among the population

The paper presents the results of an analysis of the relationship of a number of disorders and causes of death in the population to some socioeconomic factors in a Russian large industrial town. The relationship was analyzed for a time (8 years) and in space (8 areas of the town). The socioeconomic situation of intraurban areas was integrally assessed by 16 indices. Its relationship to diseases and death was also studied. The findings suggest that relationships really exist between these phenomena.
