The knowledge and attitude regarding breast feeding practices were studied amongst those health personnel (doctors, nurses and dais) who are delivering MCH [Maternal and Child Health] services in the rural areas. Study reveals that the medical and para-medical personnel are not fully aware of the correct technique and significance of breast feeding and thus their incorrect advise to the illiterate rural folk could be disastrous. The need of continuing medical education and greater role of pediatricians in the peripheries is discussed.
