The results of 120 radical mastoidectomies, practiced according to a standard technique which is described in detail, are the following (going back 2 to 6 years) : 95 % of the ears operated are permanently dry. The ossicular chain was immediately reconstructed in 89 cases : in 38 of these cases the post-operative air-bone gap was smaller than 30 dB.
