Effect of itraconazole therapy in allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis

This paper describes 2 cases of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis in India, that were successfully treated with itraconazole. The first patient was a 21-year-old man who was admitted at the Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, University of Delhi, Delhi, in September 1997. The other patient was a 39-year-old woman. At presentation, both patients had eosinophilia. In addition, serum precipitins, specific IgE and IgG, and skin test against A. fumigatus were positive. They improved symptomatically after itraconazole (200 mg daily) was given for one year and 8 months, respectively.
