Environmental factors and illness rate in children with digestive tract diseases in Yerevan

An ecological and epidemiological study of morbidity by Yerevan microdistricts having a different level of environmental pollution has demonstrated comparative high morbidity rates in children from the most developed industrial microdistricts. The irregular geographic distribution of gastrointestinal diseases is associated with the irregular environmental pollution, industrial exhausts. Poor sanitary microplots that contribute to a rise of gastrointestinal diseases have been also found in other microdistricts of the city; however, they were much fewer than in industrial microdistricts, which coincides with the irregular geographic distribution of gastroenterocolitis in Yerevan.
