In this issue, two randomized placebo-controlled trials which demonstrate the benefits of glucosamine in osteoarthritis are summarized. To discuss the findings of these reports, the comment of a leading expert is included, together with some suggested references that may help the reader to better understand the pharmacological characteristics of the molecule.
