This case study presents a collection of principles and guidelines regarding the process of selecting and deploying an electronic medical record (EMR) in a physician's practice. Practical advice and observations are detailed about what was learned and how the practice has benefited. In Part 1 of this article (Volume 18, pages 256-261), the authors identified the functions that are crucial in an ideal EMR. Part 2 provides their guidelines for implementing the system with particular emphasis on selection of the vendor.
